Curriculum: Genealogy Research
The Curriculum has two priorities. The other priority: Untold Histories.
Lessons guide students through their own family history research projects. After doing some critical thinking about family and identity, students learn to interview family members, build a family tree, and conduct archival research.
Genealogy lessons include:
- What is genealogy?
- Identity and family traditions
- The meaning and purpose of family
- The family interview
- Online archives
Volunteers (in-person and/or online) help students pursue their research. Because sometimes even the most experienced researchers need support navigating the archives.
Research is formalized curiosity. It is poking and prying with a purpose. – Zora Neale Hurston
